“Excuses are lies we tell ourselves so that it doesn’t look like our Fault.”

Excuses are the plain simples lies we keep telling ourselves, so that it doesn’t have to be our fault. Or they are the reasons for not trying new things in the name of various ifs and buts.

Over a period of time, we develop an ease of doing same repeated stuff. Even if a new thought, or a change knocks at the door we shove it off pleading an excuse. I am guilty of same many times, infact, very recently also. Have you ever thought why we give excuses such a huge place in our life?

Excuses begin with starting issues –

Trying to pick up something new, or different from the daily chore of monotony. However, the intuition of getting nowhere or bogged down are troublesome. This is when we start reasoning it out and search for smart or lame excuses. There is no shame in accepting it because everyone justifies their in-actions or reason out with the best possible sale-pitch.

I usually promise myself every night to start a healthy lifestyle regime the very next morning. Plan, and re-work the entire week activity minute by minute in the head. But when the sun rises the next day, my plan vanishes. The process repeats itself next night, I have a ‘genuine’ reason for not beginning as planned.

why do we make excuses

Self doubts the core behind excuses –

Self doubt is like a bed bug, you can’t see when it attacks. It crawls from the darkest places and suck the life out of us, leaving a strain of uncomfort. Anyone can get affected by this disease. We take shelter in reasoning out our self-doubting issues.

It won’t take a long before you start saying NO to most of the happy things in life, once bitten by self-doubting bug.

Not prepared to take the first step –

I am recently offered a fine opportunity from one of the best blogging portals. It is something that I have never done before, facing the camera live in person and action! As a professional blogger I have covered many events, given a number of media bytes, and other stuff too. However, this one felt a little out of comfort zone.

Guess what, I politely declined it. While giving the ‘justification’, I knew making a fool out of myself but still went ahead and said I Can’t.

These xcuses are real termites, it makes us hollow from inside and steal the best moments away. So, before they catch up with us, let’s wipe them off from our lives.
