‘Learning Never Exhausts The Mind‘ – Leonardo Da Vinci
Technology dependence doesn’t come with a statutory warning of – Addiction! Who doesn’t understand this than us – writers/bloggers. Our screen time (phone or laptop) has taken over the other spaces of life. A sudden visit at ophthalmologist has confirmed the worst worries to reality. I got an eyesight woes now! thanks to my over dependence on technology and uneven time management practices.
Same is the case with our kids; I remember switching on T.V during feeding time. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner would not be complete without funny cartoons and animated rhymes. She giggled and loved the animation so much, that I started playing it for her more often. Slowly the inclusion of gadgets became necessity for us, and when she was 3.5 yrs her screen time enhanced rapidly. The realization struck me when my talkative birdie curtailed her ‘masson sawal‘ & started showing sudden anger jolts. Unable to understand what could be the reason behind this change, we got her many new toys and games. But none excites her more than a day or two.
Once scanning through an article on kids with sudden behavioral changes, I realized it’s all thanks to the gadget we gave her as fun tool. Learning via online videos and gaming apps and it’s over dependence turned scary sight for me. Now, that I have identified the problem solution has to be even out. Sudden ban would increase risk of isolation or negative learning for such a small kid. Hence, I started searching for options to deviate her attention. There comes Flintobox; an activity box specially designed for kids to keep them off screen time.
