It takes Courage to be Happy

I read this beautiful quote while scanning through Goodbooks. At first, it didn’t ring any bell, but when glanced it again and read aloud it made complete sense. The real quote is –

Any Fool can be unhappy when the things are not Okay. But it takes COURAGE to be happy when things are falling apart.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

When things are falling apart, and everything turns out to be against us it’s easy to get demotivated and depressed. But it takes courage to stand tall and smile and think ‘this shall too pass‘.

Problems are like clouds you cannot predict when they arrive and cover your sunshine. I am sure we all have our own share of issues, be it small or gigantic. As per human psychology experts, we keep our mind surrounded by things which need a solution. We unnecessary flood it with self-inflicted doubts and reasons.

I often wonder, our mind is so bloody jobless? (pun intended) But think about it, isn’t it’s true. We keep thinking over things which cannot be controlled just by thinking, and then slowly submerge in the worry of not able to control it.

What has Courage to do with Happiness?

Courage has a great deal to do with happiness. How many of us have guts to accept life in it’s real form?

  1. When Neeta (name changed) realized she is a boy inside a girl’s body her whole life turned upside down. He wanted to tell parents, teachers, friends about the change, about his preferences but was scared due to social stigma. It crippled him from inside, the reality came to light only after he was charged for crimes like FGM (female genital mutilation) and murders.
  2. Anuj fell in love with Priya when he saw her the very first time. They got married and had a wonderful life when one unfortunate day he learned about the disease. He was infected by HIV, his guilt and self-pity took over and he chose a path Priya could never imagine. Suicide, he killed himself and left Priya to fight for herself alone.
  3. Sunit got promoted as Marketing Head with a salary hike for his dedication and commendable hard-work. With a new position and reputation to maintain, he bought a new home via bank financing. This new abode took his life’s savings and everything was on stake. But as his job was reaping good benefits everything was under control. Until the company ran into losses and filed for bankruptcy. Sunit was given a letter to leave with a salary just to feel them for two months. His dreams and credit-score took a nose dive and he decided to take things in own hand. Next day newspaper had news of a top-notch bankrupt MNC’s Ex-CMO jumping off from a bridge.
It takes courage to be happy. Feeling dejected and negative is most easiest choice, but it take guts to stand tall and accept the Life.

Reasons to Stay Happy

These stories are just not an act of fiction, few real-life stories I recall from national tabloids and crime-series television shows. There could be numerous situations, or reasons to be sad, but just one reason to be happy – Yourself. Accepting life as it is, and taking all challenges with a pinch of salt takes courage. So, next time when you feel dejected and at loss, get up and brush-off worries with a SMILE.
